Vote: GW2 Features

20 Dec

From my extensive summary of interviews, you will see a whole bunch of features being added to Guild Wars 2 that were not present in the original. So, which do you LOVE the most?

This time we have a multiple-answer poll. You can tick as many options as you like. The poll will close in exactly 1 week, on Sunday 27th at 11:59pm AEDST.

Avatar of Avatar

20 Dec

There was a large discussion in GToB tonight about ArenaNet’s promise to never charge people for new content. I think it’s a ridiculous argument. Clearly the website is outdated, but the EULA and the product promises change. It’s been five years. Maybe if there wasn’t this paid-for digital content, the game wouldn’t even be running any more.

Anyway, I was very bored and I had this random idea for a skill. hehe.

The movie “Avatar” is totally awesome! However I must be crazy because, to me, the 3D just looks colourless, blurry and frustrating. I am going to see it in ‘normal’ cinema soon.

Snowball Weapons!

20 Dec

These are the weapon sets I’m using in the 4v4 snowball arena:

Both spears (you can use swords or axes too) have a 20% enchantment mod, to lengthen Ice Fort.

Grenth’s side needs to reduce Crippled duration. I made this set green-colored.

Get the most out of dazed

And then for Dwayna’s side, which will increase duration of all Crippled conditions you cause, and shorten dazed:

Cripple dem fools!

Your armor should have EACH ONE of the Runes for Recover / Restoration / etc. These will shorten the duration of all conditions on you by ONE FIFTH! Warriors should also use the Stonefist Gauntlets insignia on their gloves.

Health and energy mods do not matter AT ALL since these stats are fixed.

Also, don’t forget to wear your favorite mask in the new Costume hat-slot. Bring your old-style masks to the Festival Hat Keeper in your Guild Hall, and he will give you new versions to use in this new slot. And remember to make your clothes red, green and white :) Have fun everybody!

Wintersday 2009

Make an ugly insect

I think Rollerbeetles are totally stupid. The latest papercraft lets you build one of these ugly out-of-place creatures.

Now it’s your turn:

presentsWhat do you like to do in Guild Wars at this time of year? Are you a Snowball fiend, or are quests more to your liking? Is it all about the rewards, or more about the fun and change in scenery? Comment below!

Verdant Cascades

16 Dec

Verdant Cascades

Today I have a new screenshot for you… this time it’s Verdant Cascades from Eye of the North. While playing Eye of the North you begin to understand ArenaNet’s design philosophy: that it’s not about pushing pixels or polygons, it’s about the art. That’s what allows Guild Wars to run on middle-range PCs systems.

Unless you’re specifically focusing on it, you tend to overlook the low-polygon trees and flat leaves… and see the environment as a whole, designed to provide atmosphere and opportunities to explore.

I expect we’ll be seeing more focus on the jungle environments with the introduction of the Sylvari.

Vote: Favorite Race

13 Dec

gw-races-1

Okay, so from the latest trailer, recent interview and all the other information to date, you should have a fair idea of which race you like the most. Even without knowing the specifics of abilities and storyline, we have a definite feel for each race’s place in the new world of Tyria.

Please choose your favorite from the options below. This poll will close on Sunday 20th December, so do it now! Have your say! Let your voice be heard!

You can also comment below, why you love that race so much :-D

Tonic Fun

Rabbit: Fear [FDR]; Dragon: Nova [IKOD]

Rabbit: Fear (FDR); Dragon: Nova (IKOD)

Elves chasing Dragons chasing Rabbits. I thought it was funny!

For the record, the Rabbit won.

Kurzick Tribute

12 Dec

I do quite a lot of Fort Aspenwood. It’s pretty much all I do in GW these days. When I’m not running through angry Skale and fighting Mursaat while uninfused, I am either blasting down the Orange gates at the Fort, or protecting Gunther beyond ridiculousness.

And even though all my Kurzick faction goes to the Alliance, I decided it was time for a new armor set. The Z-Keys and Luxon Jade I had built up was enough to pay for my new Kurzick Elite Armor (Jesus, they really put the Xunlai Chest out of the way! Nearly 3 radar diameters away from the Armor crafter! Rather than run all the way across the dead outpost, I mapped to GH and then back to the Armory.) :

Does it make me look fat?

ch-Rarr!

I remember, way back when, I used to buy stacks of Wood Planks around Lion’s Arch and Droknar’s Forge, go craft Parchment, and sell it for a miniscule profit. I had Excel worksheets and calculated sales vs cost of sales. I thought it was an ingenious way to make money. I was so stupid back then :P After a while I discovered 8-man Fissure of Woe farming, and did Life Barrier / Life Bond protection, then Blood is Power with my dedicated battery necromancer, “Mana Machine”. The rewards were enough to get max armor for all my characters, and later a set of Mesmer Elite Enchanter’s from Marhaan’s Grotto. Those were the days.

Oh, and a final word… this Ritualist is so gay!

I have a rainbow belt too! <3 Rainbows

Santa Norn

11 Dec

Everyone loves Santa Claus. He brings you gifts, Christmas joy and that trademark, jolly, ho-ho-BEARRR FORRRMMMM!

Santa Norn!

Ursan Christmas Blessings to all, and to all a good fight!

This took me a few hours – it’s my second attempt at Texmodding (the first time, I tried to modify common GvG skill effects so they visually screamed at me on my Mesmer. I never ended up using them, though…)

This might be a WIP, or it may be as far as I’ll go. Check out the gallery below for more pictures:

What do you think? Should I keep going? Comment dammit!

Build a Moa

10 Dec

The second Holiday Papercraft template is now online – it’s a Moa!moa

I tried printing out the Gwen chibi, however the printer doesn’t go beyond A4… and it definitely needs to be printed larger. I also don’t have a cutting board and paper knife. So I think this is one project I won’t be completing.

I have added some snow to the website – isn’t it cute?
