Tradie Skills

26 Nov

In honour of the last GvG guild I was in, Big Buff Tradies Crew [Tool]… what would life be like if everything was a Guild Wars skill?

I Love Mesmers

24 Nov

I remember reading my friend Rob’s fresh new manual to the game called “Guild Wars”. I found the page about the Mesmer profession, and I fell in love…

“Mesmers are masters of illusion and control, subverting the enemy’s Energy for their own use, and that of their allies. Combined with any other profession, their skills provide excellent support, turning the enemies’ powers against them and changing the very fabric of reality to hinder foes and help allies. Mesmers have the ability to cast spells quickly, which can make all the difference in the heat of battle. Their powers of domination allow them to take control of enemy skills and Energy. Their unique illusionary talents can slow or even halt enemy movement and skill casting, or cause imaginary illnesses that drain Health and Energy from foes while healing and energising allies. While Mesmers are not known for brute strength, their ability to confuse, distract and drain the enemy’s resources more than compensates.” ~ From “The Guild Wars Manuscripts – Book II: The Challenge”.

My favourite skills are Diversion, Backfire, Empathy, Distortion, Conjure Phantasm, Shame & Guilt.

I once said to a GW-friend on Ventrilo that I told my RL-friend that he should come back to play GW, because GvG is awesome, and I made the calculated estimate that I am the best mesmer in Australia. Well, that’s because I knew the aussie PvP scene back then, and I knew that, at that time, the better Mesmers had stopped playing! So I thought it was a reasonable claim. I thought I was the only half-decent Mesmer still playing GvG. This claim has ballooned into me apparently being “the best Mesmer in the Southern Hemisphere”, and that’s my undeserved reputation. It’s stuck. Ah well, it’s all for teh lulz.

Anyway, here we go: a wallpaper I made last week. I was really bored, and I really love Mesmers, so I made the trek into Mineral Springs to take pics of Lyssa’s Cave. I actually witnessed the world lose the favour of the gods! I heard the vines grow and snap around the statue, and turned to see sacred Lyssa all ensared. It was cool ^_____^ I took photos of my 2 Mesmers on Watchtower Coast, because the skyline is nice. I was originally looking for a trace of the future Divinity’s Reach; alas, there is no hints :( See ya!

Goodbye Guild

18 Nov

I’ve been hovering around Overclockers Australia [OCAU], and the various other guilds that survived the Trans Tasman Alliance [TTA] break up, for over 2 years now, and with the great group of guys known as “The Nightly Team [TNT]” we got OCAU up to rank 250 and TNT not far behind. But they’ve moved on to other games, and here I am left on my lonesome, casually finishing content I paid for but never played (Factions, Nightfall, EotN). I got “fed up” with the dead silence of grinders/farmers over at the OCAU alliance, so I took a look around for a new guild.

*drum roll*

I Come From The Land Down [UnDA] is full of fresh new faces and names, none of whom have ever heard of TTA or OCAU.

An old friend from TNT, Greg, has joined me too.

Yay!

To help them out a bit I spent 2/3rds of my money (gained through XTH on 3 accounts) to fill out their guild hall. So many green dots! ArenaNet went crazy with NPCS!!! AHHHHH!

New guild *does a jig*

I used to aspire to one day have my own guild. Of course, it’s totally possible and easy. I’ll just wait until Guild Wars 2.

My real name is Shaun, but here are my in-game names:

When he said Troll Unguent, I didn’t think I’d have to make it myself.

Grendich Courthouse

10 Nov

It’s one of the most out-of-the-way places in Tyria. Featuring stunning vistas of dead trees, black tar pits and smoking Mesmer corpses, Grendich Courthouse is the perfect place for your next Tyrian honeymoon.

“You must be this tall to enter the Courthouse. Sorry.”

This little guild-less Ranger was following me around.

My Guild Wars hoard

10 Nov

This arvo I was really bored, so I decided to gather up all my GW stuff and take a photo. There’s some more I forgot about, hiding inside the game cases.

Most of it just came with the games. Some of it I went out of my way to acquire – such as the Tournament Guide, which is totally LOL by the way.

I’ve decided that any time I think I might “love” a game, I will always buy the Collector’s Edition and a game guide. Just in case, you know, I want to make a fan blog in the future.

Lion's Arch

9 Nov

Maybe someday we’ll be swimming from this position up to the free city of all races, the future Lion’s Arch.

GW2: What We Know

I have compiled almost 20 recent interviews and articles. This should give you an overview of what we know for certain about Guild Wars 2; no fan speculation is included at all. Read the full article!
